Principal's Welcome

Explorer Elementary Charter School is beginning its tenth year in its permanent home in Liberty Station in Point Loma.  With over three hundred children, our school has become well respected in the San Diego community.  Our affiliation with the High Tech High Village Schools is another aspect of the school’s growth.

Over the ten years our school has existed we have stayed committed to our vision that social intelligence is fundamental to academic success.  We draw from current research and experience which indicates that social and emotional skills create higher achievement, increase a student’s focus and engagement, and improve learning, collaboration and classroom relationships.  Our students learn to solve personal and academic questions with support and clarity.

The academics at our school are rooted in concepts that increase analytical thought and scholarly conversations.  In reflections and discussions children are asked to think deeply about the curriculum they are studying.  This allows our children to explore concepts with depth and complexity that is unusual in elementary years.

We understand that in the classroom the teacher is the decisive element. It is the teacher’s response to students that governs the learning that takes place.  We take this responsibility very seriously.  Explorer’s teachers know that they have an indelible impact on the lives of their children and together the faculty is a powerful and dynamic network of thinkers who plan exquisitely for our students.

Explorer’s parent body is a pillar of strength at our school, from volunteering in every aspect of the school’s functioning to generously funding programs, we are appreciative for their support.

I am ever grateful for the honor of working in such a setting where parents and faculty fully understand the centrality of developing the individual spirit of each child, of developing the spirit in each of our lives, in our classrooms and the entire school community.  Move than ever before, I am committed unconditionally to our school’s mission to work to create thoughtful, empathic learners who succeed academically and understand the full meaning of the power of compassionate human interaction.

Sincerely,

Jill Green
