Academic Performance Index (API)
The API measures the academic performance and growth of schools. The index (or scale) ranges from a low of 200 to a high of 1000. A school's score on the API is an indicator of a school's performance level. See current and past reports on the California Department of Education web site.

Urban League Best Practices Gold Award
| a |
In December 2004, Explorer Elementary Charter School received a Best Practices Gold Award from the San Diego Urban League. The award was given to schools whose teaching practices resulted in above average scores on the SAT-9 test in Language, Reading or Math by our children of Hispanic, African-American and South East Asian heritage. The award was presented to our school at an Urban League lunch. The schools' representatives attending the lunch were given strong encouragement to continue to develop and maintain practices that will effectively educate all the children in San Diego County's schools.
